Michael, I just reviewed a manuscript submitted to a major journal for math teaching that claimed that 4 square feet is equivalent to 48 square inches. And the subject was on key concepts in teaching area. . . I need some Unboggle My Mind juice.
Would have been fine had they discussed how that is a predictable student error, of course. 🙂
“instead of adding two copies at a time, how about ten?” I’m not sure there’s much else to say to get one step closer to understanding how place value can help you more.
